LiveTree began as a crowdfunding platform in 2015. After running for two years, it had captured over 5% of the UK crowdfunding market in the video entertainment sector. In early 2018, however, it was withdrawn and the Seed token cryptocurrency was created to push LiveTree in a brand new direction.
The founders of LiveTree are Ashley Turing, a computer scientist and cyber-security expert, and Dr Buyun Zhao, a neuroscientist from the University of Cambridge with experience in finance and filmmaking.
LiveTree was founded as a solution to the incoherent practices of film and TV funding, which leave talented creators unheard and passionate audiences unsatisfied. LiveTree’s model was developed to give audiences the chance to upraise the stories they believe need to be told, while empowering creators with important visions whose work may not be noticed by traditional financing bodies.
